Returns & Warranty Policy
We want you to be absolutely happy with your purchase from MotorSparesAndParts.co.za. Our Returns & Warranty Policy is designed to be fair, clear, and customer-friendly (with just a dash of necessary fine print). Below you’ll find everything you need to know about returning products and how our warranties work:
Returns
We understand that sometimes a product might need to be returned – maybe it’s faulty, the wrong part, or you just had a change of heart. Here are our guidelines for returns:
- Contact Us First (Get a Reference Number): Please contact us (via phone, WhatsApp, or email) to obtain a Return Reference Number before sending anything back. Returns without a reference may not be processed.
- Eligibility Window – 7 Days: Returns must be initiated within 7 days of receiving the product. If it’s after 7 days, contact us anyway – we’ll try to help, but returns beyond this window may be declined unless it’s a warranty claim.
- Condition of Returned Items: Items must be in new, unused condition, and in their original packaging. If a returned item shows signs of use (marks, grease, scratches, missing parts), we’ll either return it to you or hold it for collection.
- Wrongly Ordered vs. Wrongly Supplied:
- If we sent the wrong item, we cover all shipping costs and will arrange collection and dispatch the correct part at no cost to you.
- If you ordered the wrong item, you’ll need to cover return shipping. Refunds/exchanges are processed once we receive the item in resellable condition. A 20% restocking fee may apply.
- Non-Returnable Items:
- Fuses: If the fuse works on arrival, it cannot be returned.
- Sensors & Electronic Units: Once installed and functional, these are considered used and are not returnable unless faulty.
- Special Order Items: Non-returnable unless defective. You’ll be informed in advance if your order falls into this category.
- Change of Heart / Buyer’s Remorse: These returns are handled on a case-by-case basis. If accepted, a 10–20% restocking fee may apply. Store credit might be issued instead of a refund.
- How to Send a Return: After receiving a Return Reference Number, package the item securely with padding and include a copy of your invoice or order number and contact details. Use a courier service with tracking. Until we receive it, you’re responsible for the item.
Processing Refunds / Exchanges
Once we receive and inspect your return, we’ll process your refund or exchange accordingly. Refunds are issued via the original payment method (card, EFT, store credit, etc.) and can take a few days to reflect. For exchanges, we’ll ship the replacement item as soon as possible and inform you of any price differences if applicable.
Warranty
All products sold by MotorSparesAndParts.co.za are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise specified. We want you to have peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong due to a manufacturing defect, you’re protected.
- Warranty Duration: The length of the warranty depends on the product and the manufacturer’s terms. Most parts come with a 6- or 12-month warranty, or in some cases, a mileage-based warranty (e.g., 20,000 km). We always follow the original manufacturer’s warranty terms, which are also listed on the product page where applicable.
- What the Warranty Covers: Manufacturing defects and failures under normal, intended use. For example, if an ignition coil fails prematurely or a fuel injector stops working due to a factory flaw, it’s covered.
-
What the Warranty Does NOT Cover: Damage due to:
- Incorrect installation (e.g., improper timing belt tension)
- Accidental damage or negligence (e.g., hitting a pothole)
- Racing/off-road use (unless specified for that purpose)
- Acts of God (e.g., flood, lightning, or natural disasters)
- Electrical failures caused by vehicle faults (e.g., short circuits, bad grounding)
- Professional Installation Required: Warranty may be void if the part is not installed by a qualified technician. Always keep proof of installation such as workshop job cards or invoices — especially for major components like gearboxes or electronics.
-
Warranty Claim Procedure:
- Stop using the part or vehicle (if safe to do so) to prevent further damage.
- Contact us with your order number, part number, and issue description. Include supporting evidence (e.g., mechanic report or error codes) if available.
- We’ll guide you on how to return the part. Most claims require inspection either by us or the manufacturer. This process can take time, but we’ll keep you updated.
- Shipping Costs: For approved warranty claims, we cover both return shipping and the cost of sending you a replacement. If the claim is denied (e.g., due to misuse or external factors), you will bear the return costs.
- Exchanges or Refunds: We typically replace the faulty item with the same part. If it’s out of stock or discontinued, we’ll offer a suitable alternative or a refund. Some refunds may be pro-rated depending on usage.
-
Your Responsibilities:
- Follow installation instructions and maintenance guidelines.
- Maintain your vehicle and related systems.
- Keep your proof of purchase and professional installation.
- Don’t tamper with or disassemble the part — this can void the warranty.
- OEM & Extended Warranties: Some OEM parts may carry shorter warranties. Certain aftermarket brands offer extended coverage, which we will highlight when applicable and register on your behalf.
- Our Commitment: We aim for 100% customer satisfaction. We promise to handle every warranty claim fairly, communicate clearly, and act quickly. If you’re not happy, we’re not happy — and we’ll do our best to make things right.
In summary: Buy with confidence! We stand behind every product we sell. Just follow our warranty guidelines, and we’ll ensure your experience stays positive — even if an issue arises.
